On September 4 this year, the Public Transport Council (STP) approved changes to regional public transport fares, which will come into effect on January 15, 2026.

The changes to regional public transport fares are balanced to maintain service quality and ensure financial sustainability. The fare changes are distance-oriented, taking into account regional accessibility. Within the zone system, the fee will increase by €0.30, while outside the zones and for longer journeys, the increase will be smaller – €0.20.

Bus services:

Liepāja–Grobiņa: €1.00 → €1.20
Rīga–Dubulti: €2.00 → €2.30
Kombuļi–Kazanova: €0.70 → €0.90
Rīga – Rēzekne: €11.70 → €11.90
Liepāja–Grobiņa: €1.00 → €1.20
Alūksne – Balvi: €2.70 → €2.90

Important: All tickets purchased until January 14 will be valid until their expiration date, but from January 15, tickets will only be sold at the new fare.

For season ticket holders, discounts remain unchanged even after the fare adjustments. This approach aims to foster loyalty, ensuring that daily passengers continue to receive favorable conditions.

Season tickets allow significant savings:
A 30-day ticket is calculated as 20 journeys, but it pays for itself after just 21 journeys.
1, 3, and 5-day tickets are also available, as well as multi-journey tickets with discounts of up to 20%.

For all socially protected passenger groups, fare concessions on regional routes remain at 100%, and the procedure for using transport does not change.

According to the STP decision, fare tariffs are reviewed regularly, at least once a year, taking into account the accumulated inflation rate and changes in average wages compared to the previous period.
